I find myself in Cincinnati, Ohio again. The familiar unwelcoming energy that surrounds me as an American of Negroid African descent is ever present. Cincinnati rests right on the border of the Ohio River just north of the Ohio state line and just across from the bluegrass and red necked state of Kentucky, yet well south of the Mason-Dixon line. Though Cincinnati has welcomed me home to Ohio on countless occasions as I traveled via automobile from the deep south, Cincinnati has never reminded me of a northern city. Indeed it has always held the allure and vestiges of the last stop in the South. The gentile Queen City. The unwritten and unspoken rule for a Black Man in Sin-sin-nati is 'stay in your place and there wont be any trouble'. Any overt actions that might be perceived as 'trouble' could bring a sunami of repression at any time. 'Unspoken Fear', a trade mark of the South. 'Cincinnati' spelled with two n's followed by an 'a' synonymous for 'No-Niggas-Allowed' Racial ignorance and intolerance are such and unnecessary burden on humanity, yet some seem determined to carry the load. Cincinnati very subtly yet profoundly represents the most deadly disease and paradox plaguing America- RACISM. Sinsinnati is the kind of place for a Black Man to Pass through and if you must stay for a while...stay quietly.
Donald Trump is the Leader of the Global Hate Movement. He is synonymously the Global Leader of the Ignorance Movement. I have personally witnessed and had dialogue with many persons who are avid Trump supporters and I have personally found them to be some of the most short-sight non-critical thinking people that I have ever met. One example of their baseless reason is displayed by their unwavering confidence in Trumps ability to provide jobs when they themselves are unemployed and unable to find jobs or training despite vigorous attempts. Many have come to me seeking counsel because they were/are on the brink of financial ruin with no sign of relief in sight many times as a result of Trump cutbacks and yet they laud him as the greatest leader ever while simultaneously bemoaning the awful years of Obama leadership. Simple math would show anyone that we have experienced seven years of economic trajectory growth, six of those years were under the Obama Administration and less than one year has been under the leadership of Trump. Clearly, in less than a years time even though the economic growth continues, the economic 'mood' of the country is 'uneasiness' at best.
Trump is giving us an in your face, nose deep whiff of 'White Privilege'! Free...White and 21! is their declaration! No apologies for ANY KIND of behavior. Make up the rules as you go because they not relevant to your station anyhow. The RULES apply to everyone and anyone else who is NOT at least Free! White and 21! We are being given a stark reminder that racism is alive and well in America. It has never weigned nor dissipated. It was merely hiding in political correctness behind the wrenched but more acceptable mask of sophistication...unchanged, unwavering, filled with righteous indignation and waiting for the right moment and the right leader. The time has come to unmasked! Now it is Halloween in American from the White House to the out houses of Small Town USA. It is as if the ghost, goblins and ghouls have penned a New Emancipation Proclamation....Let's Make America Great Again! Classism navigated by the engine of Capitalism and the mystery of the Invisible Hand has given rise to the 'Not Me' Movement! We have turned a blind eye to infested waters in Flint, Michigan....Not Me! We have ignored thousands who are still displaced and recovering in New Orleans and the Gulf by Katrina....Not Me! We have incarcerated children and separated them from their parents and placed them in concentration camps with not regard or legal impetus...Not Me! Puerto Rico has been mocked not once but twice for being their own worst enemy in the face of natural disaster conditions and even in the face of 3,000 deaths in the span of a few days our government official have turned a blind eye and even boasted in their own lies and arrogant hatred of the brown and the impoverish who live on American soil as if to say... Not Me! Everyday another black boy is gunned down by an armed trained police officer and one single man has had the courage to kneel in protest and say ME TOO! Yet the NFL, the NFL players, the non-Black NFL players, the president, churches, so-called black leadership, religious leaders, black owned media, black owned newspapers and black owned radio stations have all been stricken with paralysis and silence. If action speaks louder than words then inaction resound with a deafening roar...NOT ME! I have heard persons of many of all colors and backgrounds, justify their allegiance to the Grand Ol Party by saying that they voted for Pence and not Trump, or they just couldn't vote for Hillary or that they voted for a lesser known Republican candidate yet Trump won with record returns and these same so-called dissenters are very happily dividing the spoils. Pilate once tried to wash in blood filthy hands yet he was unsuccessful. Professing such a case for your innocence of the blood thirsty reign of Hate and Ignorance that has overtaken this country is synonymous to calling cancer just a life threatening blood disease...It's the same thing! It is like calling 'hunger' just a form of 'starvation' ...It's that same thing! When justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream, and it will. Your punishment and the punishment of the Leader of the Hate Movement and the Ignorance Movement in this country will look and feel very similar, in fact...your just retribution will be the same thing! Racism has always been the bedrock of the American Dream. Race first and all other things second. If you are white, its alright! If you are black, get back! if you are brown, stick around! if you are yellow, its mellow. Everything has changed since Jamestown 1619, yet nothing has changed! The thinly veiled stench of mendacity that awaits any man or women of African descent who dares to kneel with dignity and self respect or stand for the right. The gauntlet of certain death and humiliation of Brown persons has been assembled. Negroes of means and influence are running scared. They live in fear of losing everything that they have worked so hard for. The masses of Negroes have been left exposed and unprotected from certain molestation from a system unified to reclaim all so-called 'progress'. The 'House-Nigga' Movement is upon us. The Omarosa's, the Clarence Thomas', Don King's, Stacy Dash's, Ben Carson's, Kanye's, The Steve Harvey's, Daryl Scott's and the Jim Brown's of this world have been empowered by the appearance of unparalleled opportunity yet they have been offered NOTHING! They have sold their souls essence for NOTHING! They have not even gained a small parcel of the white man's world. Indeed, they don't really want anything tangible. They want what all of Massa's children on the plantation truly yearns for deep down in their souls...ACCEPTANCE. They want ACCEPTANCE from white man. They will do anything, say anything, fight anything that impedes their perceived ACCEPTANCE by the white man despite their own loathing self-hatred of themselves. Though Rosa Parks achieved great notoriety for refusing to relinquish her seat and seat on the 'back of the bus', on that day there were many Negroes who cowered on the 'back of the bus' and remained in their assigned seats. They may have not wanted to cause any trouble. They may have thought that this was not the appropriate time or place to protest. They may have thought that it was disrespectful to the good white man. They may have thought that they did not deserve to sit next to the good white folks Whatever their thinking was or may have been, they remained in their seats on the 'back of the bus'. The descendants of Rosa Parks vowed that they would never return to the 'back of the bus' and they have not. However, their refusal to abdicate came at a great cost. Some where promoted through the doors of integration and opportunity, Only to be subject to self castration mentally, psychologically and spiritually in order to maintain their newfound position in the garden of opportunity. Some were simply murdered, ostracized or put in jails. Some where lured into substance addiction thus rendering them weak and useless for the cause of freedom. Some were miseducated by an unholy unequal public education system. Some were given jobs only to be the last hired and the first fired, often working for meager wages with the ever present threat and fear of being fired. Some assimilated because they could. If you cant beat them join them. Some turned to religious refuge only to be exploited and abandoned after a season. Those were the descendant of Rosa Parks who remained seated in the 'Whites Only' section of the bus, but what of the descendants of those who remained on the 'back of the bus'. Well, unfortunately, more than a half century later. Many of their children and their children's children are still afraid, they bristle and are publicly embarrassed at the pronouncements of a Rev.Jasper Williams during the eulogy of Ms. Aretha Franklin simply because they are still on the 'back of the bus'. It is okay to be different, it is not okay to think that you are superior to anyone simply on the basis of ones skin color. This is Hatred and Ignorance. Forcing the powerless to be just like you is a prime example of Hatred and Ignorance. We are better than Trumpism. When we are at our best we are lovers who resist all forms of hatred. When we are at our best, we are the warm enlightened rather than those who take refuge in the cold of ignorance. |
